Fall Fashion for the Office and Beyond

By Catalina Margulis

We all love to hit refresh on our wardrobes once fall arrives, but keeping current doesn’t mean you have to overhaul your entire closet. With just a few smartly chosen autumn updates, you can reboot existing outfits and feel as on-trend as ever. Karine Laparé of RW&CO. takes us through the season’s must-haves.

1 FLANNEL BLAZER AND SKIRT
Demure, ladylike skirts and dresses are on trend this season and are perfect for the office. A flannel blazer and skirt combo from RW&CO. strikes a power pose, acting as an elegant yet confident dress suit. In the hottest colour of the season—burgundy—the suit also boasts soft, stretchy fabric that makes it comfortable for long days at the office. “Don’t be afraid to mix and match these items,” Laparé says. “The blazer is an ideal layering piece to wear with a crop skinny denim and a white blouse.”

2 SKINNY PANT
Skinny pants create the silhouette of the season. Dress them down with a loose knit, or dress them up with a fitted blazer—you can do no wrong when you’ve got these on. RW&CO.’s Natalie pant, offered in a range of lengths, prints, fabrics and colours (including autumn-appropriate olive) is just right for fall.

3 FLORAL-PRINT DRESS
“Floral prints are very strong this fall, as we’ve seen on the runways, and this floral print dress is an easy pick for looking effortlessly chic at the office,” Laparé says. The dress is also a great day-to-night transition piece for a busy event season. “And on cooler days, add a structured blazer and a nice pump and you have the perfect business look!

4 CARDIGAN
As the temperature drops, there’s no piece of clothing that sees more action than the everyday cardigan. RW&CO.’s go-to cardigan checks all the boxes, with its on-trend burgundy shade and sweet floral pattern. “Versatile, simple and elegant, this cover-up can easily be worn with a structured dress for an office look or with jeans and a white t-shirt for a weekend getaway,” Laparé says.

5 PRINCE OF WALES COAT
Menswear’s influence on women’s fashion is strong this season—especially when it comes to statement-making blazers, coats and jackets. “The Prince of Wales long coat is an amazing addition to your wardrobe this season,” Laparé says. “The wool-blend fabric of this show-stopper makes it comfortable and breathable, yet also warm enough for the cooler days.”

1 TURTLENECK
Yes, they’re back! The turtlenecks popularized on fall runways have hit the shelves just in time for cooler temps. This season, snap up RW&CO.’s turtleneck sweater—and sport it under a blazer for extra warmth and style.

2 BURGUNDY BLAZER
Step away from basic black, boys. Burgundy is your new best friend. In particular, burgundy blazers lend an office staple some look-at-me zing. “Burgundy is as strong in men’s trends this fall as it is with women’s,” Laparé says. “The comfortable PDR blazer is the perfect layering piece that completes your look with a pop of colour.”

3 FITTED WHITE SHIRT
Some things never go out of style! The white shirt is a workwear essential, but is updated this season with interesting details around the elbows, cuffs and collars. RW&CO.’s tailored-fit shirt, for example, keeps the look on-trend. Laparé notes that, if you wear white shirts often, they should be changed out every six months or so to keep your look pristine.

4 CAMEL TOPCOAT
From fitted blazers to billowing coats, camel jackets were seen all over catwalks and fashion weeks. A popular colour for fall, camel is versatile for day, night and anything in between. “RW&Co.’s camel top coat looks just as great with a suit as it does with jeans and a T-shirt for a night out with your friends,” Laparé says.
