Things to do in July 2026

Long days and warm weather mean there are endless opportunities for adventure in Alberta this July. As AMA kicks off its centennial celebrations, an epic mystery hits the stage, and world-famous stampedes and festivals take over the province, there’s no shortage of things to do.

Celebrate AMA’s Centennial

The Alberta Motor Association is kicking off celebrations for its centennial year this summer, and we’re bringing the party across the province. While AMA was founded November 30, 1926, enjoying the summer in Alberta is too good to pass up—so watch for us at parades and show & shines across the province. AMA teams will be ready with games, giveaways and a good time at the Lethbridge Street Wheelers Show & Shine on July 12. And we’ll have entries at the Fort McMurray Canada Day Parade, the Calgary Stampede Parade, the Red Deer Westerner Days Parade, the Medicine Hat Stampede Parade, and the Camrose BVJ Kickin’ Country Parade.

Find out when we’re coming to your community on the AMA Centennial events page.

In Calgary, head to Heritage Park to check out the AMA centennial museum exhibit A Road Well Travelled, an interactive experience that tells the story of transportation and mobility in Alberta over the past century. Visitors can explore interactive displays, historic artifacts, and hands-on experiences that explore of a century of change, from the arrival of the automobile and the province’s first roads to the Alberta we know today. AMA members save 15% on regular adult admission onsite at Heritage Park. And don’t worry if you’re not in the area—the exhibit will head to Edmonton in the fall and to Wetaskiwin in early 2027.

AMA’s centennial exhibit opens at Calgary’s Heritage Park this July.

Solve a Mystery

This July, you’ll find out the answer to the age-old question: Was it Colonel Mustard in the library with the wrench? Clue will visit Alberta this month as part of its Broadway Across Canada tour. The play, based on the 1985 movie and Hasbro board game, is a comedy that promises to delight—and keep audiences guessing! Clue will play in Edmonton from July 14 to 19 at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium and in Calgary from July 21 to 26 at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium. AMA members can save up to 20% for Broadway Across Canada tickets purchased online and receive a free beverage voucher valued at $12!

Stampedes, Midways and More

Albertans all over will be ready to hit the midways and stampedes this month, with the province’s rodeo culture kicking into high gear.

The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth—the Calgary Stampede—takes place from July 2 to 12 and features world renowned rodeo and chuckwagon competitions, concerts from over 150 artists, and a massive midway. And remember to watch for AMA’s entry in the Stampede parade on July 3! And in Red Deer, Westerner Days will be held July 15 – 19, featuring the popular North American Pony Chuckwagon Championships and central Alberta’s largest summer midway. In the southeast, the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede will feature a traditional agricultural fair and a family-friendly midway from July 23 to 26.

Be Dazzled on the Streets

Acrobats, dagger-throwers, dancers and magicians are among the world-renowned acts that visit Alberta from all over to show off their epic skills. The festival is free, although you should remember to tip the performers if you like what you see, and it also offers up Kids’ World programming and a Busker Academy program.
