Things to do in Alberta: April 2025

By Meaghan Archer

As we head into spring, there are lots of great opportunities to leave the comfort of home and enjoy some fun activities with friends and family. Whether it’s indulging in a tasty treat or cozying up to your favourite superhero, April has something that everyone can enjoy.

ChocoFest

What could possibly be better than a chocolate festival? Indulge your sweet tooth at Alberta’s premier chocolate tasting festival, ChocoFest, the weekend of April 25-26 in Sherwood Park. Get your fill of decadent desserts with chocolate vendors, a cookie bake-off, hot chocolate bar, live demonstrations from chocolatiers, and so much more. Tickets are available online or at the door to this family-friendly event.

Pride & Joy

Come together in the mountains to celebrate Pride for a full week during the Jasper Pride & Ski Festival starting April 4. For 10 full days there will be Pride events, unlimited skiing—including a ski parade at Marmot basin—not to mention dance parties and après ski, plus so much more. Be sure to follow @jasperpride on Instagram for a full schedule, event information and how to take part in this celebration of love and inclusivity.

Coffee Crawl

Calling all caffeine enthusiasts! Steep in coffee culture with a tour of the best coffee joints in Medicine Hat through the Indy Coffee Tour. Meet your local guide at Poolhouse Café & Roastery for a hands-on roasting experience before taking off on foot to visit independent coffee shops and their owners (all within walking distance). The tour is taking place one day only, Wednesday, April 9 from 10a.m.-12p.m. Tickets are available online.

Bulls, Barrels and Broncos

Kick up some dust at the Taber Spring Classic Pro Rodeo April 25-26. Professional cowboys and cowgirls will put on a show you’ll never forget as they compete in events like bull riding, barrel racing, team roping, and steer wrestling—just to name a few. Be sure to get your tickets early so you can saddle up in the best seats and get to hootin’ and hollerin’!

Fanfare Extraordinaire

It’s time to dust off your Batmobile and head to Stampede Park for the Comics & Entertainment CALGARY EXPO—a comic, cosplay, fantasy-lover’s playground. For four days (April 24-27), immerse yourself in your favourite fictional and fantasy worlds with comic and anime creators, costuming and cosplay, workshops, panels, and celebrity Q&As. We’re headed back to the future with this year’s celebrity guests, including Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Catherine Tate—just to name a few.
