Kids’ Club: Winter 2017

By AMA Staff

Elk Island National Park has some of the province’s most scenic trails—just a half-hour drive from Edmonton. Strap on your snowshoes or cross-country skis and set out on one of the serene, snow-covered paths, like the family-friendly, 3.5-kilometre Beaver Pond and Lakeview trails at the park’s north end. And keep your eyes peeled: The wintry landscape offers ample opportunity to spot elk, moose and even bison (though remember to keep a safe distance). Buy a Parks Canada Discovery Pass at any AMA centre for easy entry into national parks: Members save $10 on a family pass.

Buy these CanLit winter classics from Indigo at the AMARewards Online Store and earn 5% back in reward dollars

The Hockey Sweater: Roch Carrier’s ode to hockey heroes and the kids who emulate them has been a favourite for almost 40 years.

Thomas’ Snowsuit: How do you deal with a willful child? Thomas’s mother, teacher and school principal find out when they try to get him dressed for the cold.

Just One Goal: Ciara and her hockey team try to win a game on their new rink in Robert Munsch’s story about goal scoring and community building.

Things to do when the weather outside is frightful

Cineplex and Landmark Cinemas: See movies like Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle for less. Members can save on movie tickets purchased at AMA—with Cineplex and Landmark.

The Locked Room: Kids age six and up, accompanied by an adult, can team up to solve interactive escape puzzles at three Calgary locations. Save 15% on admission—that’s $15 for four players.

West Edmonton Mall: Make a splash at the water park, take a swing at mini golfing, or hitch a ride on the new Galaxy Orbiter roller coaster. Save $6.30 on adult and $7.35 on kids’ WEM Choice passes purchased at Edmonton and area AMA centres. A family of four saves $27.30.

Kids Go Free: Add your children to your Plus or Premier membership. Whether they’re going to a national park or the movie theatre down the street, they’ll be covered no matter whose car they’re in!
