The pandemic sparked a lot of unusual things. For Dave Benjestorf, a man with no farming experience, it was growing 95,000 pounds of vegetables for Albertans in need.
“Very few things in your life are crystal clear—for me, this was one of them,” says Benjestorf, the food bank volunteer behind the Pandemic Planting Project. “I’ve had so many blessings in my life that I wanted to return the favour.”
