BUY GIFT CARDS ONLINE
The way we shop has changed a lot over the past 18 months. Many of us are buying more online than ever before, whether we need new clothes, a home electronics upgrade or the week’s groceries. Now, you can even buy AMA Rewards gift cards from the comfort of home. Store.ama.ab.ca is your new one-stop shop to purchase, activate and reload gift cards from AMA partners, including Mobil, Indigo, The Ultimate Dining Card, Hudsons Canada’s Pub, Lube City, plus Sobeys, Safeway, FreshCo and IGA. After ordering, the card is mailed to you, and you’ll instantly earn 5% cash back on the purchase amount. You can then activate the card in just a few steps online. Members earn 5% cash back when they reload a card too! Use the reward dollars you earn to pay for almost anything AMA sells, including your membership renewal, vehicle registration and travel bookings.

GIVE YOUR BUSINESS A HAND
Small businesses are the lifeblood of Alberta’s economy. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, they’re more essential than ever to the health and vibrancy of our communities. From October 17 to 23, Small Business Week celebrates the contributions of Alberta’s entrepreneurs—and AMA is here to help all year long. AMA’s expert registry agents can assist you with the paperwork for starting a business—whether you need to do a corporate name search, register your business or file an annual return. Click here to take the first steps to becoming your own boss.

CHECK YOUR BATTERY
Help your vehicle embrace colder temperatures! If your car battery is three years or older, it might be time to replace it. In Calgary, Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park, AMA’s Mobile Battery Service will come to you, by appointment, to see if your battery is up to snuff. (The service is also available in select locations by making a Roadside Assistance request.) There’s no charge for the test, and if you need a new one, you can buy it immediately at a member-exclusive price.* Plus members save $20, while Premier members save $40. Check out ama.ab.ca/Battery to learn more and book an appointment.

WINTERIZE YOUR RV
When it’s sitting idle, your trailer, fifth wheel or motorhome can be negatively impacted by winter weather. Decrease the risk of damage by scheduling a winterization appointment with Go RV: AMA members save $40 between September 1 and October 30. Need more maintenance? Members save 15% on parts and service year-round. Click here for details.

INSURANCE UPDATE
Last fall, the Alberta government announced changes to auto insurance in our province based on recommendations from an independent review of Alberta’s auto insurance system. Read up on changes here.

Some key changes have already happened, such as enhanced medical and rehabilitation benefits following an accident, including increased limits and new approved treatments. The government has also reviewed the definition of minor injuries for the purposes of pain and suffering claims.

As of January 2022, there will be a new process for how your insurance company manages property damage claims following a collision. Quite simply, if you’re in a crash and there’s insured damage to your car, your insurance company will pay for it regardless of whether or not you were at fault. This means insurers won’t need to coordinate with each other to pay for the damage, which should get you back on the road sooner.

Get the full scoop on what to expect from the changes in the winter 2021 issue of AMA Insider. AMA Insurance policy-holders will also get more information in their next renewal package.

WHATEVER YOUR PLATE, KEEP IT UP TO DATE
Service Alberta has stopped issuing licence plate stickers. If you’ve relied on the sticker to remind you of your vehicle registration’s expiry, signing up for AMA Vehicle Registration Auto-Renew now makes more sense than ever. Register here or visit an AMA centre. The start of your last name determines your registration’s expiry.
