The Vancouver International Auto Show brings the biggest brands in motoring to the West Coast

Auto Shows to Get Revved Up About

By AMA Staff

Every car enthusiast knows that your wheels do more than just get you from point A to point B. They’re finely tuned machines that are evolving at an increasingly rapid pace. Whether your heart belongs to hot rods or hybrids, there’s an auto show somewhere in this vast—and vastly drivable—country to fit your automotive taste.

VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW
To the rest of Canada, British Columbia’s city by the sea is known as a haven for cyclists and pedestrians, but the metropolis is also home to many auto aficionados. (Vancouver’s historic core was originally known as Gastown, after all.) This year’s Vancity auto expo—its 96th edition—will showcase more than 400 new models alongside exotic autos and concept cars like the Cadillac Elmiraj. The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada will also announce its Canadian Green Car of Year at the 2016 show. March 23 to 27

CALGARY INTERNATIONAL AUTO & TRUCK SHOW
There’s always a lot of horsepower in Calgary and its annual auto show is no exception. Expect an impressive selection of high-performance vehicles from Lamborghini, Lexus and Lincoln—plus a slew of brands whose names start with other letters, too. Hard-working Calgarians can also check out the newest, toughest trucks on the market. There’s even an area dedicated to big rigs. March 9 to 13

EDMONTON MOTORSHOW
Kicking off with its popular (separately ticketed) Precious Metal Gala on April 6, this year’s automotive affair at the Edmonton Expo Centre features the latest and greatest—including four Canadian premieres—from all the big-name manufacturers, a collector’s auction and much more. April 7 to 10

FLEETWOOD COUNTRY CRUIZE-IN (London, Ont.)
For more than a decade, classic car buff Steve Plunkett, owner of over four-dozen Cadillacs, has been hosting Canada’s largest outdoor auto show on his 110-acre estate near London, Ont. The 2015 edition hosted more than 5,500 vintage vehicles; there’s no reason not to expect an even bigger fleet this year. Other must-see highlights of the show: live entertainment and appearances by celebrity auto enthusiasts. June 4 & 5

ATLANTIC NATIONALS (Moncton, N.B.)
Another extravaganza of vehicles from the golden age of driving, Atlantic Nationals takes over downtown Moncton with a parade of classic cars—not to mention more than 20,000 spectators. The event also hosts fun “Cool Car College” workshops where you can learn tricks of the trade from top mechanics, customizers and other experts, while a sizeable Scale Model Show adds a touch of whimsy to the show. July 6 to 10
